Pin It Now!

On Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 8:30 pm, I am taking part in Earth Hour-a global event in which millions of people will turn out their lights to make a statement of concern about our planet and climate change.

Sponsored by World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour got started just two years ago and is now the largest event of its kind in the world. Last year, more than 50 million participated and the lights went out at the Empire State Building, the Golden Gate Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and the Coliseum in Rome, just to name a few. Even Google's homepage went black for the day! In Israel, President Shimon Peres personally turned off lights in Tel Aviv.

This year, Earth Hour will be even bigger-already 250 cities in 74 countries have agreed to take part including Atlanta, Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami and Nashville with more signing up every day. Around the world cities like Moscow, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Shanghai and Mexico City will turn out their lights.

But Earth Hour isn't just for big cities-anyone can participate. To get a better sense of the event, check out this video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Qr8QXWzT9U.

Participating in Earth Hour is easy, fun and free. I hope you will join me for this amazing event. To sign up, visit http://www.earthhourUS.org where you'll learn more including ways you can spread the word about Earth Hour, plus creative things to do when the lights go out in case you need inspiration!

We want the US to turn out more lights than any other country in the world during this historic event so please pass this note along to anyone you think might want to take part. Let's all turn out and take action on March 28 at 8:30 pm.

Here I sit on the sofa at 11:30pm watching a TiVo'd episode of the Exterminators trying to think of what to blog tonight.  Well the day was pretty normal...get up, go to work, the kids were at my dad's so I headed over there after work for home made spaghetti and to watch Bolt with the kids.  There wasn't even any crazy neighbor activity!  Hmmm... bloggers block LOL    Well when I asked N, my hubby, what the topic of the night should be, I got the response "how wonderful your hubby is"....gee thanks hon...

Well in true fashion, I am going in a completely different direction...I thought I would let you in on some of my favorite TV shows.  LOL

The shows that N and I never miss are:

Ghost Hunters
Mythbusters
Dirty Jobs
Ghost Hunters International-ok really this one is just to keep us going when the season of the original Ghost Hunters is on break....most of the time we spend the episode commenting on things like the fact that one of the girls looks like a raccoon  LOL

Ok so I can't just leave it at that...seriously this topic irks me to no end!  (I posted raccoon girl's pic as the image for this entry)  The thing is she has been in many episodes....I don't care how your makeup looks in the daylight.  (For those who have never seen the show, about 95% is filmed in the dark)  You know that she has watched herself on TV....how would she not know this is NOT the look to go for?

Ok, I think I truly am rambling now, so I am off to bed!  Have a great night everyone, and when you are doing your makeup in the morning just remember, raccoons are NOT in!

I am sitting here at work, thinking about this morning. I was running late (as usual), but had to wait for my husband and kids to rush out the door because hubby was parked behind me. As we open the door to all rush out onto the front porch, I can hear yelling coming from next door. My female neighbor is sitting in the driver seat of their van, with the back hatch and passenger door open. Her boyfriend? Husband? (don't know which) was in the back of the van yelling at her to just f'ing run him over. When they saw us he climbed into the passenger side and shut the door....well of course the combo of hubby parked behind me (he had to put 2 kids in car seats) and my front window was iced up prevented me from leaving for a while...I tried not to look over there, I swear I tried my best, but a did take a few glances....(I couldn't help myself) You know its that whole train wreck thing...its horrible and uncomfortable, but no matter how hard you try, you just can not look away!! Anyway from my glances I saw him get what looked to be 6 or so fishing rods and a tackle box out of the van and throw them on the ground, and I saw him drive away in the van, while she was walking back to the house. N (my hubby) called me after we pulled out to fill me in on what he saw.....when he looked the guy was in the driver seat, the girl was behind the van, and the guy started pulling out anyway.....He thinks she was trying to get something out of the van. He said that the guy was not stopping, and he saw her almost lose her footing at one point. The even scarier part of the situation is that they have a baby boy that cannot be more than about 8 months old or so. I am HOPING for his sake he was sleeping away in the house at that time.

I know that people fight, and I know that times are tough right now, but come on people! I should probably mention that this was all transpiring at about 7:45 this morning!

I know I am not the only one with crazy neighbors! Anyone else have any crazy neighbor stories to share??

Sitting on the sofa with a bag of M & M's watching Robocop 3 on the TiVo.  What a better way to spend the night?  LOL  I think I have finally got the blog how I want it, although I am sure I will be tweaking things along the way.  I realize that I should make a post to introduce myself and my family, however for some reason I don't want this entry's title to define me  LOL  Tonight was a good night, I wasn't feeling well when I left work, so I stopped at Wendy's and got myself a chicken sandwich, and kids meals for the kids.  When I got home, I took my sandwich and the laptop, and rested for a bit while working on the blog.  :)
