It's that time of year again!! We made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch with the kids this weekend! I really love fall, and although we don't always get the pumpkins carved, we have never missed a year of going to a pumpkin patch...complete with hayride of course!! :)
We have tried a few different farms over the years, and this year's choice was by far our favorite!! The hayride was great; fun AND educational! We saw a few different animals on the ride, and not only did our driver slow down to see them, but he stopped and told the kids all about the surrounding crops int he fields, as well as the animals in front of us. The kids got to see and hear about the cows, goats, peacocks, and even the 2 hound dogs that run through the fields and follow the tractors. :)
While on the hayride, we stopped at the pumpkin field where not only were the pumpkins sitting around the field, many were still attached to the vines. :) There were even some other gourds and such scattered in the field.
After the hayride, the kids went into the play area which included a small maze, some barrel cows to sit on, a slide, and a few pens where they could pet the animals that came to the fence; including a goat, donkey, sheep, and piglet. There was corn all around to feed the animals as well!
At the end, we tried to go through the giant corn maze, but got lost and had to backtrack through the whole thing! After one last stop into the store for a few ham biscuits, and some chocolate covered peanuts, it was time to pack up our pumpkins and head home.
We really had a great time, and look forward to going back next year!!
