I know I am posting this a week late, but my nephew was born last Friday! My lil' sis had an AWESOME labor ( I am SO jealous) She was induced, and they broke her water around 9:40 in the morning. about 45 minutes later, her contractions picked up, and were starting to get a little more painful. At that point, the doctor told her she could get her epidural at any time, so after about 15 more minutes she went ahead and ordered it. (Epidurals REALLY are an amazing invention!) The nurse told her it would be a while before the anesthesiologist could come, so she offered to give her some stadol through her IV. Well as soon as she got it, she felt like she had 3 vicodin LOL About 5 minutes later the lady was coming in to give her the epidural!
Here is something else that makes me very jealous about the whole thing...I had epidurals with BOTH of my kids, and while it was amazing, and took the edge off, I still felt 100% of the pressure.....I was still in pain.
Anywho, she got her epidural and was in NO pain. She felt NO pain until the very end, and even then it wasn't bad at all! She never felt the urge to push, so we had to tell her when she had her contractions. I was privileged, not only to be able to be one of the people in the room with her, but I got to hold her leg while she pushed!!! It was SO amazing.
If there was any doubt about how her labor was going, in between pushes, there was no screaming, no crying, no grimacing, there was laughter.....lots and lots of laughter!!
My beautiful, perfect nephew was born weighing in at 7lbs 5oz. He also was born with the thickest head of dark hair you could ever imagine on a newborn.
So far he has been a perfect baby too. He sleeps ALL the time, only waking to eat, look around for a few minutes, and go back to sleep.
I am in love!
